Everybody loves an amazing business opportunity, right? That’s because this form of marketing is designed to get you hyped up about joining. It goes beyond traditional marketing, which arouses your curiosity by implying that there is a new discovery waiting for you.
Have you ever had the experience of knowing that life is offering you a completely new possibility, which you KNOW is meant for you, but then it seems like you can’t grasp it? This happened to me many times before. I was always asking the universe for opportunities, for experiences, but I couldn’t really feel them coming. And now, I found what I now know was THE most powerful business opportunity for the digital generation like myself. If you are interested in making money online, this is for you!
What would you do with $5,000 just for helping people get online? Would you enjoy the sunshine on the sandy beach of your favorite holiday destination, or go shopping in Milan with your partner? Would you share it with friends and family, or keep it all for yourself?
How and why the digital generation (25-35) for the most part, has no idea what business they want to be in
The digital generation came of age during a time when technology changed the way we interact with business. Many of us grew up with computers, and we’ve been familiar with the idea of making money online since we were kids.
But I don’t think many of us realized that this generation would be the last to be truly comfortable with their own business ideas. When I look at my nephews and nieces in their late teens and early 20’s, it’s clear that they’re having trouble understanding the fundamental differences between the types of businesses that work, and those that don’t.
I was talking to my younger cousin Mikey last week about his plans to open an online store selling vintage sneakers, following in the footsteps of his older cousin Ralph who’s been selling “rare” sneakers on eBay for years. Ralph has made millions selling shoes. I asked Mikey if he thought his sneakers would sell well on eBay, and he said he wasn’t sure because he didn’t know much about how people buy sneakers online. I told him that was a problem: He had no idea what people were looking for in a shoe and whether they would buy his sneakers — or even care — based on anything beyond the $60 price tag. He wanted to know if he should sell them wholesale or retail — and if he should sell them through eBay at all.
When it comes down to it, Mikey has no clue what type of business he wants to run. And I’m not sure that there are any businesses you could run successfully at this point without extensive knowledge about your target audience. So if you’re writing business plans these days, you might want to include some extra questions for yourself before you start listing your products on Etsy or creating templates for your new website: What kind of business do you want to run? What are your core competencies? What are you passionate about?
How and why this is a HUGE opportunity for the individual with the right skill set
This is a massive shift in the way we do business. I’m not talking about the Internet generation; rather, I’m referring to the Digital Natives (born after 1995) who are now entering their prime earning years. The only difference between these two generations is that the Digital Natives are more plugged-in than ever before. They’ve grown up with access to tools like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest. With this generation, being connected almost 24/7 has become part of their lifestyle.
Digital natives have grown up with an expectation that technology can solve any problem they might have. Therefore, they are much less likely to want to deal with someone who isn’t technologically savvy or doesn’t have an app or can’t figure out how to use it.
The other reason why the Digital Native is the next big thing for business is due to their preferred skill set. Many of them are computer scientists, engineers and programmers because they grew up learning technology from a young age. If you understand technology, you’ll know that software isn’t something you can buy or learn overnight; it takes years of experience to master it. If you don’t have this skill set, you should consider hiring someone who does because it will greatly improve your bottom line.
As a business owner, you need to understand that if you don’t have any tech skills, you need to seriously consider hiring someone who can make sure your product is technologically compatible with digital natives.
How and why your competition isn’t ready
In the late 1990s, the dot-com boom was in full swing. In 1998, one of the most successful internet companies in the world was founded by a college dropout named Jeff Bezos. Amazon started out selling books online and has since grown to include almost any product that can be shipped.
Even though Amazon is a household name today, it wasn’t always a success story. In fact, for most of its early years it struggled to make a profit or even turn a profit at all. You might be thinking this would have been a good time for competitors to swoop in and take over with their own ecommerce ventures. But they didn’t! They couldn’t see Amazon’s potential because they were too focused on the present. They didn’t believe that people would buy products online when they could just go to a store and pick something up themselves.
The same thing happens today in a lot of industries with new technology and new company opportunities.
With the rise of smartphones and apps, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft became very popular, but car manufacturers didn’t get on board right away because they thought consumers wanted the chance to purchase their own cars outright instead of renting them from other people.
The common thread between these two examples is that companies act too slowly when faced with new technology or business opportunities because they are not looking far enough into the future to be able to discern what will happen next.
Hiring, training and onboarding employees takes time (months) and effort (thousands in costs). Instead, we’ll outsource it
Most small businesses have a difficult time finding, hiring and keeping employees. When you’re in a competitive market where qualified applicants are in high demand, it’s a major challenge.
To address these challenges, many entrepreneurs turn to staffing agencies that connect them with temporary or contract employees. These agencies can be a great solution for smaller businesses who have limited staff and budget for training. For larger companies, the cost of outsourced workers is often prohibitive.
Outsourcing your HR department is not for everyone, but there’s a new option that offers the flexibility of temporary workers without the overhead costs: crowd-sourcing employers. Companies like Elance, FreelanceSwitch and UpWork allow you to hire someone from the comfort of your home office — at a fraction of the cost of a staffing agency — and pay them directly through their platforms by taking advantage of their recruiting networks.
Learn about this new business opportunity
Though advances in technology have opened up many business opportunities, one sector that continues to evolve is the travel industry. More and more people are utilizing technology to explore the world around us. However, Face book is increasingly becoming their main source of information. If you want to keep up with the competition, knowing the latest tips and how-to’s of this industry is essential.
Why Your Digital Skills Could Be Your Ticket To The Good Life
Like all generations, the millennial generation is living through a time of social and economic transformation. Their emergence as a new economic force — and their unprecedented access to information — has created an opportunity for new businesses to thrive.
If you’re one of the 70 percent of millennials who feel like they’re already financially set for life, you might be surprised to learn that your generation could open the door to a whole new world of opportunities.
Millennials aren’t just tech-savvy, they’re digitally savvy, and they have a lot more spending power than previous generations did at their age. Digital skills are the most sought-after type of skills in today’s marketplace. And because it’s so easy for them to acquire those digital skills, there’s a huge wage premium for those who can do so.
You must learn to master some essential digital skills
Business is shifting to the digital age, and it’s not just about technology. Many important skills are needed to run a successful business in the digital era. You may have heard of social media or ecommerce, but there are many other skills that are essential for success.
Here are some of the essential digital skills you should master if you want to start a business in the digital age:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): This term refers to the process of improving your website, so you can rank higher on search engines like Google. It involves the creation of keywords that describe your products or services, along with backlinks to your site that help search engines find you. Most people use SEO during their early research about an idea or product, but SEO should never end there. SEO is also used throughout the entire sales cycle, from creating copy for your sales page to optimizing it for multiple devices. The more people see your website, the more chance they have of clicking through and buying. Social Media Marketing (SMM): This involves using social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter effectively to promote your business. The most common mistake SMM beginners make is paying too much attention to which networks are best for them, rather than focusing on creating content that people will want to share with their friends. You can’t expect people to talk about you if they don’t understand what you offer in the first place. Product Creation: Whether it’s designing a logo, building a website or developing an app, this is the process of developing something original that people find valuable. When creating products, it’s important to be creative and innovative while still meeting various regulations when it comes to patenting ideas or selling intellectual property rights. These regulations are much easier to meet when you have specific expertise in what you do, so being creative is key in this step as well. Public Speaking: It’s no secret that public speaking is an important skill for CEOs and business owners because it’s not easy for most
Why Most People Struggle To Make Money With Their Digital Skills
Most people who graduate college today are well-educated, skilled and talented. We know how to do things, but we don’t know how to do things the right way. We’re comfortable with technology, but not necessarily with business.
Moreover, many of us were raised by parents who spent way too much time watching television. And now that we’re older, we spend way too much time on our phones or laptops instead of interacting with friends and family in person. Many of us prefer to text over talking on the phone and we’ve become so reliant on social media for communication that we don’t even notice when people talk to us.
This is not a recipe for success in business. It’s a recipe for making money with your digital skills — if you know what you’re doing and you follow a few simple rules.
